Unbelievers – “The Guts & The Gory”

March 26, 2010 by: Jonny Taint

Unbelievers – “The Guts & The Gory” – This album is twenty five minutes of female fronted pop punk with a similar musical style to The Teen Idols, but without the male vocals. The riffs and melodies are extremely bouncy and over a lot of variation to keep you into the album. There are plenty of hand claps, oh oh’s, and tempo changes to keep even the snobbiest of the Pop Punks interested and wanting more. Lyrically the song is similar to most other pop punk band, but from the female prospective of break ups, drinking, and more break ups. The thing that stands out the most is that the singer’s voice has a lot of range and doesn’t sound like she’s trying too hard to be one of those sugar sweet girly singers. One of the best female fronted pop bands I’ve heard since The Unlovables (and I really like The Unlovables). I can’t wait to hear more and/or see this band live. This album is well worth any fan of Pop Punk checking out.
