VA-Revenge of PunkRockers – “VOL1” (Voodoo Doll Records) – No matter how many times it’s been done in the past, I love the idea of a four band split album. It’s just a good way to introduce bands to new people they may not have otherwise reached. Sure most of the time the bands on the split are of a similar genre, but it doesn’t mean a fan of band X has ever heard band Z before. This four-way split from Voodoo Doll Records features; Flamingo Nosebleed, Murderburgers, The Kinkies, & Killtime. Each band has three Pop Punk songs of the 1-2-3-4 persuasion, but each with their own little variation.
- The Kinkies – Similar style of bands such as; Screeching Weasel, The Manges, &/or The Apers
- Murderburgers – Similar style of bands such as; Nobodys/McRackins/Sheckies
- Flamingo Nosebleed – Similar style of bands such as; Rich White Males, Drunken Cholos, &/or The Vapids
- Killtime – Similar style of bands such as; The Queers, Screeching Weasel, &/or Teeange Bottlerocket
Of the four bands involved on this split album I would have to say that Murderburger & Flamingo Nosebleed are my favorites. Both are full of raw and rowdy pop punk that makes bouncy your head and hum along to on the 1st listen. If you are fan of Ramones-core this is an album worth checking out.
