The Ex-Gentlemen – “Demo/EP” (self released) – A little garage punk, a little pop punk, and a little bit power pop, but a whole lot fantabulous. This is one of the tightest and most put together demo’s I’ve ever received to review. The recording is solid; you can hear the highs, lows, & mids. The vocals aren’t over powering and the back vocals are perfectly placed in each song. This demo is incredibly catchy without being overly simplistic as newer bands often are. The Ex-Gentlemen have one of those time power punk sounds that is truly a combination of the vegetables that make up this little tossed salad of music we call Punk Rock. At their core, The Ex-Gentlemen are simply punk revivalists who have recharged the energy of speedy, catchy, power punk songs My favorite song of the four demo is “Throw one back with style”, but really it doesn’t matter each of them is great. Actually I love this Demo so much, it was named the #1 demo of 2009 by Punk Rock Review.
