House Boat – “The
Delaware Octopus” (It’s Alive Records) – If you’re a fan of The Steinways, then you probably already have this album and if not I’m sure you will love “The Delaware Octopus”. For those of you not on the bandwagon, much like The Steinways, House Boat are a New York based Pop Punk band with an upbeat pace layered with sarcasm and bratty vocals. I like House Boat more than I do/did The Steinways, but I just can’t get past the whininess of the lead vocalist (Grath). Admittingly his voice isn’t as bad with House Boat, but still possesses a pitch that annoys me. That being said I have to be in the right mood to listen to this album or just listen to the songs “A song for halfpint to suck my balls to” & “My guts have shit for brains”, where Grath isn’t the primary singer. So if you already like The Steinways this is the album for you. If you’re a fan of upbeat pop punk with bratty vocals sung in a melodic cadence then you will want to check this album out.
