The Sheckies/Slotcars split – “Clambake” – We’ll start with The Slotcars, they’re a heavily bubblegum Beach Boy style pop punk band. Nothing complex or overly interesting, just super catchy beach blanket bopping 1 minute songs. My favorite of The Slotcars songs is Surfin’ New Jersey.

The Sheckies half of the album is also the average three chord pop punk variety, but with a little more of the typical underdog, lovey dovey girl influenced songs.  One thing that stands out about this Sheckies album opposed to their former releases is the overall sound quality. Some of their former releases, though good were a little hollow, but this album is just a better quality recording. These Sheckies songs were produced by Joe Queer and you can really hear the influence in the overall flow & harmony that is in  each of these songs.

If you’re a fan of fun upbeat surf influences pop punk you will love this split album.
