The Beldings – “Demo” (Self Released)

The Beldings – “Demo” (Self Released) – Fast, grinding, & crunchy horror pop punk. While that combination has produced some great bands in the past, it seems to have failed with The Beldings. I think the thing that has made this successful for bands such as The Mansfield’s, The Creeps, The Lillingtons, etc… Are not only a solid band, but the catchy lyrics and vocals, which is where The Beldings fall short. The five song demo I listened to has not one song over 1:04 minutes, but in each of the songs it seems all they do is repeat the same boring horror themed lyrics that aren’t much more than the title of the songs (Jason Vorhees, Night Of The Living Dead, My Girls A Zombie, Dead By Dawn, & Evil Dead). In actuality I really like the blast off speed and energy of the songs, it’s just that they lack anything that can make you connect to the songs. If The Beldings could sit down and write some good lyrics and work on the delivery of those lyrics, they could be a decent band. Until then you’re wasting your time to check them out.
