The Accelerators – “Self Titled”

The Accelerators – “Self Titled” - I had heard the Accelerators in the past and really enjoyed a hand full of their songs, but other than that I wouldn’t call myself a big “fan”. After getting a taste of a few of their songs from the new self titled album and was definitely curious to hear what more they had to offer. The songs on this album have a much more mature sound and I don’t mean it in the “settled down, mellow, wife and kids way” I mean it as their sound has just progressed to a crisper, deeper, more pulled together, and intricate way . The songs are just better written and seem to have been taken more seriously in regard to the musicianship of them. My favorite songs on this great Stardumb Records / Squinty Joe Records release are “Ok By Me”, “Borrowed Time”, and “Go Get Your Brain Checked”. There are a couple of songs that are ok, which didn’t really give me a boner, but overall a great album that is well worth spending some hard earned cash on. If you’re a fan of The Apers, The Priceduifkes, or any other energetic slightly-raspy voiced pop punk bands, then you’ll love this album. 5/5
