We Won’t Stop –“Demo” The great irony of punk rock is that for a style that claims to be so fervently about breaking rules and fighting oppression, many music fans come down so hard on bands for stepping outside of the accepted stylistic norms as punk fans. For a group of people that express themselves as individuals and preach non conformity, punk rockers really like to make sure everything fits into a specific sub genre of punk. Either you’re hardcore, pop-punk, skate punk, street punk, etc… Well where can I pigeon hole “We Won’t Stop’? They have the vocal style of older 7 Seconds, the gang vocal style of a power pop punk band like The Riptides, the hard hitting drumming of a hardcore band like Lockjaw, the guitar tenacity of Fifteen , political attitude of Reagan’s Youth and the infectious bass grooves of Dag Nasty. Oh wait a minute I forgot about that seldom used genre, Punk Rock. Yup that’s right I know it’s hard to believe but I found a modern band that is just straight forward well rounded punk rock. So if you’re interested in punk music that fits none or all of the sub-genres of punk, then We Won’t Stop is a band you want to check out. But be warned they aren’t going to fit into one specific mold or have the sharpest sound, they’re just punk rock.
