Hate & War – “Demo”
Hate & War – “Demo” Featuring the deep vocals and inscrutable lyrics of Hate & War’s material stresses ominous atmosphere, throbbing bass lines, and quirky instrumental shifts that challenged the rigid bash-'em-out structures of early punk. As the economical turmoil of United States has been in a downward tailspin mired in debt and crime, grappling with one of the most trying periods in its history, yet ironically (or perhaps fittingly), the underground music scene is seething with activity like never before. Still reeling from the violent inception and subsequent implosion of punk rock, hundreds of underprivileged kids living in Philadelphia and its outlying townships & boroughs began forming punk groups to rail against the everyday trials, dangers, and prejudices of urban existence, much like in the early 80’s. As had been happening in other urban centers (most notably New York, San Francisco. and Washington, D.C.) equally affected by the lean, recession-laced early years of Bush-enomics Philadelphia has become a melting pot/hub for a flourishing hardcore scene a cultural phenomenon that has used punk rock as a platform for politically charged, inherently regional musical catharsis. Hate & War are just another fine example how blithe frustration & economical turmoil can generate thought provoking awareness to the worlds youth. Hate & War is a hardcore band that has a message and gets it out with style and energy.
