Punched Out – “Self Titled”

Punched Out – “Self Titled” – When I listed to four songs and two of them I really enjoyed (Can’t Stop Thinking About Her & The Holy Man), but the other two (Hey There Friend & Lonely Ugly Loser) didn’t do much for me. After listening a few more times I realized it wasn’t that I didn’t like the other two songs, it was more that they are songs that you need to be in the right mood to listen to. Each of the four songs is on the mellower side of European pop punk/Indie scene, filled with subtle hooks and choruses. I have no trouble at all saying that anyone who likes melodic pop punk will like this album as it is definitely a refreshing, insightful piece of work. It's not something that most street punk or hardcore fans would pick up, but it's definitely worth a listen for anyone into the mellower side of Punk Rock. The melodies are catchy, tight, mid-tempo tunes, but what drives this album and makes it so passionate are the lyrics and what they have to say.
